Special discounted charters are offered in the Spring and Fall each year. Other sales occur throughout the season based on availability, destinations, and locations of the vessels and their schedules. Deals range from half-price specials to monthly discounts in the early and late seasons. In the heat of the summer season you are more likely to find sales on specific staterooms and all-inclusive full boat charters.

Many vessels winter in Washington while they spend their summers in the calm northern waters of the Inside Passage or Prince William Sound. At the beginning and end of each season they must make voyages back to their seasonal home ports. These trips provide a unique opportunity to charter a private vessel through the Inside Passage at beautiful times of the year.

Other discounts are found throughout the season when spare staterooms become available. This offers the occasion to charter with like-minded travelers on previously scheduled cruises. You will share the experience of a lifetime with only a handful of other guests and have a voice in the direction the cruise takes and the chosen activities.

Another way to benefit fully from these rare deals is to book the full boat and treat yourself to a luxury, all-inclusive cruise. With family or friends, this is a special way to view Southeast Alaska or Prince William Sound. Going from one destination to another or round-trip, you will have the opportunity to call the shots and stay an extra day in special spots or take a detour up an intriguing glacial inlet.

No matter which one works best for you, these specials are unique offers from the boats and captains themselves to ensure that everyone has the best trip possible.

• Alaska's "Gateway City" or the first port of call in Alaska is usually Ketchikan, also known as the "First City." Located on Revillagigedo Island alongside Tongass Narrows, Ketchikan offers daily jet flight connections to "Outside" as you'll discover the rest of the country is called in Alaska.
